Week 8 Recap

So this was quite a wild week - we had a lot of points on the board and nobody really seemed to get hurt. Jon’s team was the exception to the rule, but that’s only because his MVP literally got called for jury duty.

Standings

Player of the Week

In case you didn’t watch any football this weekend, you might have missed that Sunday was National Tight End day. There were only two teams brave enough actually roster one (hi Morgan and Tuesday), and only one scored more than 10 points…George Kittle (also the founder of National Tight End day)!

But in all seriousness, the TEs balled out this weekend. I do fully expect all of them not named Cade Otton to revert back to their 7 catches for 20 yards and 0 TDs performances though, so buyer beware.

Honorable Mention

This week saw the return of Jameis. The modern Fitzmagic pulled off the impossible and out-dueled Lamar for almost 30 fantasy points and a W IRL. He wasn’t rostered, but anyone who makes Lamar look human gets their props.

Let’s be real - I really just wanted an excuse to use this image. Sorry, not sorry Ryan.

Team of the Week

Seattle Suckmyhawks!

After multiple weeks of bad beats and making history last week - Julian was BACK with a vengenance. The combo of Bo Nix, JK Dobbins, and some moderately respectable performances from his starters was enough to hand Ryan the L.

Plus, his bench was on fire and now Diontae Johnson is being traded to the Ravens…so things are looking up.

Matchup of the Week

JBeeZyn vs EBDB was far and away the match of the week. The final score was determined by 6 yards (in Erik’s favor).

On Erik’s side, he got off to a hot start with Josh Allen, the return of Achane + Kupp, and David Montgomery THROWING a TD. On the negative side, the return of Jameis netted the EBDD negative points on the defensive side.

JB was much more balanced, with Mahomes and Williams starting out strong. He also had the return of DeVonta Smith and one big play from Deebo. But going into MNF, he was still on the outside looking in. The Russell Wilson > Najee Harris connection was strong and all they needed was a first down for JB to take the W. Instead, the Giants gave away their scoring opportunity, leaving Najee on the bench.

Manager Stats

Despite being out of the playoff picture, JB and Erik are basically the same team (power-wise). There’s a little bit of flip-flopping going on in the middle of the pack, but the difference between the power ranks and actual results still means that 3-6 spots still up for grabs.

There might be an extra game of cushion, but if kickers are getting called up for jury duty, RBs are throwing TDs, Tuesday is rostering a full team, and Julian is actually winning…anything can happen.
