Weeks 7 - 8 Recap

Standings

Just over the halfway mark and two interesting things are happening. The Top 4 teams seem to be settling in to their spots, each with over 85% percent chance of making the playoffs. Meanwhile, the next 6 teams are all duking it out for the final two spots.

Don’t be fooled by the tie between Julian and Samantha - Ju has almost pulled off a first-to-worst season (caveat - last week he deliberately kept Mahomes as a starter while on a BYE). He had an opportunity to drop someone for a backup…but there really wasn’t a good option on waivers. And you know what, that game against Ryan was closer than it should have been. It seems like Ryan and his Ravens are having remarkably similar seasons.

Just sayin.

Player of the Week

This one goes to CMC. In his first REAL game for the 49ers, he

For 34.6 Fantasy Points. Here’s footage of CMC personally reassuring Julian that his #1 overall pick and season is not lost…just please remember to start a QB next time.

Team of the Week

Just when I thought that this was going to be my week (113 fantasy points!)…Tuesday enters the chat.

In her Week 8 matchup against Blythe - Murray Up and Wait threw down 107 points.

But Crispy…isn’t 107 < 113?

Yes, friends, it is. But she did it with players on a BYE. And not just any two players - Austin Ekeler (current Fantasy RB3) and Kicker Harrison Butker. That is a monster performance. We all better watch out…Ekeler is back and Cordarelle Patterson is coming off IR.

Tuesday is coming for a ring.

Matchup of the Week

This is a tough one - both of the picks are in Week 7. It was either JB vs Morgan or Erik vs Jon.

On the one hand, JB vs Morgan was literally a game where both teams refused to score points. JB’s squad managed a single TD across all starters. Morgan pulled together 3, but the only other points were from the yards on the TD.

On the other hand, Erik vs Jon was a bit more exciting. Jon’s WR1 (Mike Williams) racked up 14.6 points to go with 20 from the QB, and 10.5 from Kamara and 11 from the Kicker. Williams literally gave it his all, and is now out for four weeks. Meanwhile, Erik’s team was a bit of a dumpster fire…except for that Cowboys Defense and it’s 21.5 points. They could have DOUBLED their projection and Jon still would have won. They didn’t manage a TD, but 2 INTs / 3 Fumbles Recovered / 5 Sacks is an amazing stat line.

En Fuego

Two winners!

  1. Tuesday, Week 7. She left Josh Jacobs and his 33.5 points on the bench…while AJ Brown was on a BYE. That would have secured a W against Ryan, which continues his streak of getting everyone’s weakest performance. With that W, Tues and Ryan would be swapped on the leaderboard.
  2. Shannon, Week 7. Despite a victory, she had an egregious miss. Antonio Gibson and 21.5 points while D’Andre Swift managed a cool 0.0. It didn’t matter…but that’s a YIKES for your BINGO board.
