Weeks 9 - 10 Recap
Standings
Ten weeks down, four to go before the playoffs. These last two weeks have been very exciting, lots of action in the middle of the standings. Some teams that were looked defeated two weeks ago are now in the playoff hunt!
Three teams have clinched a spot (Erik, Chris, and Megan), and it looks like a fourth (Ryan) could / might be able to clinch this week. Meanwhile, JB has played his way into the top 6 while Tuesday is hanging on to the top of a four-way tie for 6th.
Nobody has been mathematically eliminated yet and even Julian has a 4% chance of making it in. He has two wins, four wins is currently IN (excluding tie-breakers), so it’s not over yet!
Player of the Weeks
This one is a tie between Joe Mixon’s 51.1 point Week 9 performance, and Justin Fields back-to-back weeks of 46 and 39 points. While Mixon’s performance was historic, he’s been a bit of a dud the rest of the season.
Fields on the other hand has been a rocket ship. After six weeks of waiting, he’s put up 20+ points in the last four weeks and has completely resurrected Morgan’s team. It’s the Ohio State connection for sure.
FIELDS FOR THE WIN
Team of the Weeks
This one is pretty clear - THE Team Buckeyes is 2-0 the last two weeks, winning by 18 and 26 points. Morgan is on a bit of a hot-streak - Fields helps, but Dalvin Cook, Christian Kirk, and some savvy DST streaming has paid off.
There must be something in that Hawaiian coffee!
Matchup of the Weeks
Most of the matchups the last few weeks have been kinda lopsided. Looking for the story within the story - the most interesting game was probably the EBDB vs The Schitt List. Erik’s team rose to the top of the rankings on the back of Lamar, who has dramatically cooled of as of late, and in Week 9 two of his bell-cow players were on a BYE. This was a classic trap / letdown game.
Lamar and Aaron Jones both came out COLD - but the rest of his team was basically dead on their projections. All Samantha needed was for her team to just meet their expectations and just a little bit extra. Not much - like 4 points more.
Instead, Justin Herbert couldn’t figure out the Atlanta defense and it just wasn’t David Montgomery’s week. Fields and Herbert vultured all the points and with it, Samantha’s chance at victory.
EN FUEGO
The hottest bench fires the last few weeks came from Blythe, Tuesday, Jon, and JB. These four saw their benches score 50% or more of their starters…so we’re approaching the dumpster fire category.
NOMINEES
- Tuesday: Davante Adams, 26.6 points. Worst of all, she had a WR on a BYE in her starting lineup and only lost by 18.
- Blythe had Chris Godwin, Tom Brady, and Buffalo DST chilling. That’s nearly 40 points, but only Godwin and Buffalo were playable. Either would have been good enough for a W.
- Jon only had one player on his bench: Aaron Rodgers and 25 points. It wouldn’t have been enough for a W, but still a questionable decision when your starter is MARCUS MARIOTA.
- JB’s bench was fiery, but he won - so it doesn’t count. Yes, JB WON.
WINNER
This one is pretty easy - leaving Davante Adams on the bench was egregious.
Congratulations TUESDAY!
